History of Hops Episode 22 – A Trader Joe’s Investigation

Welcome to The History of Hops Podcast. This week I did some research into the Boatswain brand of Trader Joes’s Beers. Turns out there is a pretty complex history behind where these beers are brewed, and there is a fascinating family behind the curtain. We also get into some detail about Speakeasy Brewery and their attempts to find a buyer while being crippled by debt. We finish off with another Kirin Beer, which is basically an alcoholic version of Squirt Soda. Beers included in this podcast:

  • Boatswain HLV Ale
  • Boatswain Twin Screw Steamer Double IPA
  • Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA
  • Kirin Grapefruit Thing

Thanks for listening!
